Ecommerce Holidays Your Business Should Know

Ecommerce Holidays Your Business Should Know

It’s never too early to get ready for the holidays- the busiest and most profitable season of the year for Ecommerce businesses!

Last holiday season we talked about 5 Ways to Boost Holiday Sales, in addition to ecommerce holidays you may not have heard of (but should know!) like Green Monday, Free Shipping Day, and Super Saturday.

There’s also Small Business Saturday, and the usual Black Friday, and Cyber Monday as well! With all these holidays, it’ll be hard to keep up when the time nears.

Here’s a quick holiday breakdown for 2013:

October 31 – Halloween
November 28 – Thanksgiving
November 29 – Black Friday
November 30 – Small Business Saturday
December 2 – Cyber Monday
December 9 – Green Monday
December 18 – Free Shipping Day
December 22 – Super Saturday
December 25 – Christmas

As you can see, every week in December has a holiday of some sort, so it’s going to be a packed month if your business decides to partake!

Black Friday – Officially kicks off the beginning of the Christmas shopping season due to specially priced deals.

Small Business Saturday - The first Saturday of the “official” shopping season which encourages shoppers to shop at small businesses, primarily local brick & mortar shops

Cyber Monday – The largest online shopping day of the year due to special deals

Green Monday – The last Monday before Christmas when standard postal shipping will ship packages to arrive before Christmas.

Free Shipping Day – The day where ecommerce businesses offer free shipping with guaranteed delivery by Christmas Eve. If you plan to participate, you can sign up to be listed in the directory for free here.

Super Saturday – Geared towards retailers with brick & mortar locations, this is the last Saturday before Christmas and is targeted at procrastinator shoppers.

To start preparing for these holidays, take a look at your last year’s data to make sure you’ll have your best sellers in stock, and how you could be even more prepared this year (including customer service, fulfillment, and promotions)

If you weren’t in business yet last year, don’t feel pressured to partake in all of the holidays that aren’t common. Focus on pinpointing which of your products sells instead so you know what to promote.

Next week, we’ll have another post to help you get ready for the holiday season!
